Do you take insurance?

I do not accept insurance directly, but if your plan has out-of-network benefits I am happy to provide you a monthly superbill and complete any necessary forms for you to be reimbursed for sessions.

If you would like to do this, I suggest contacting your insurance company and asking:

1) Do they have out-of-network benefits for mental health care?
2) Is there a deductible for out of network services?
3) What percentage of the session cost will be reimbursed?
4) What paperwork do they require?

Why don’t you take insurance?

I have opted to be out-of-network so you and I have autonomy over your sessions, and not an insurance company. Too often insurance carriers dictate how many sessions you are allowed to have, and since I work with many clients with complex trauma, sometimes we need more than the standard yearly visits allowed.

Insurance companies also require a therapist to give a mental health diagnosis after the first session, and I like to get to know you before making that type of determination.

I also offer integrative and holistic mental health care, which is a unique skill set, and are services above and beyond what health insurance plans would cover.

I do understand that therapy costs can add up, and it can feel like a sacrifice at the outset of therapy when you are unsure of the result. The time and resources you set aside for your mental health is an investment in your well-being. The regulation you can gain, the skills to be learned, the insights you develop and the healing that can occur will have positive impacts for the rest of your life, so I encourage you to try a few sessions and decide if it is right for you.

If the cost is truly prohibitive to you, please inquire to see if there are any sliding-scale options open.

How long does therapy last?

This varies for each client, and depends a great deal on what your challenges and goals are. I like to start with weekly visits, so we can get to know each other and begin working on your goals.

At some point, when you feel confident applying the new tools and strategies and you are managing challenges with more ease, we can drop our visits down to twice a month.

Some people will continue to drop down to once a month, and then terminate, or take long pauses, while others might prefer to stay in therapy regularly for longer periods for support and accountability.

How to know if we're a good fit?

Are you ready to bring back joy and laughter into your life? As a therapist, I am seeking new clients who are eager to take action and create meaningful change. I work best with individuals who are willing to put in the effort outside of our sessions and actively engage during our time together. If this sounds like you and you are committed to making a positive transformation, take the first step and reach out today!
