A new 30-day cycle will start on Thursday, February 27 at 7:44PM EST with the new moon in the sign of Aquarius (in the sidereal zodiac, not the tropical zodiac). New moons are always a good time for self-reflection and slowing down. Each month may show different themes, depending on where it’s happening in our personal chart, and also carries universal themes depending on the placement of the moon and other planets in the sky.

Aquarius is a fixed air sign, ruled by Saturn, which focuses on ideas, connection, humanitarian ideals and social causes. Like all air signs, it seeks to connect the larger whole together and create movement and change. Saturn has been inhabiting this sign and giving it strength since January 2023, and he will be leaving this sign on March 29, 2025. He is trying to give us our final lessons of Aquarius before he moves on.

This particular cycle will start with the Sun and the Moon at 15 degrees Aquarius, which is in a section of the sky called Satabhisha. This is a mysterious, metaphysical and healing section of the sky whose name means “a hundred physicians” or “a hundred healers”. This indicates that sometimes we need many different perspectives, medicines or modalities to work together for the common good, and to heal ourselves.

The symbol for Satabhisha is an “empty circle” which represents boundaries, limitations, and containment. It also represents what lies hidden within us, behind the scenes waiting for discovery. This can show the need to come inward and tap back into one’s unique essence, as opposed to getting lost in the collective. It is always a delicate balance, especially with the air influence of both Rahu (the planetary ruler of Satabhisha) and Saturn, ruler of Aquarius. They are both malefic planets who can be quite demanding of us. Rahu can bring a lot of desire and confusion, spinning us out of control, while Saturn demands work, structure and responsibility. Together, they can cause anxiety, overwhelm and exhaustion, if we are not careful.

Some questions to reflect on –

1.    How can I connect with the deeper aspects of myself in a more meaningful way?

2.    What are the practices that support me turning inward?

3.    Are there unconventional healing methods I could explore?

4.    How can I use my unique qualities to support others in the collective community?

Every new moon has a balancing point of the full moon two weeks later. The balancing point to this new moon will be March 14, 2025 at 2:53 AM EST in the sign of Leo. This will also be a total lunar eclipse, which has its own intense energies. This full moon, like every full moon we have seen since November, is at the 29th degree of the signs (Moon will be 29 degrees Leo and the Sun will be at 29 degrees Aquarius).

The 29th degree is the last degree in a sign; it signals endings and completion. It is also an unstable placement, and this has contributed to the feelings of instability and confusion many have been experiencing over the last several months. The full moons will continue to take place at the 29th degree through April, and will start to come away from the edge in May 2025.

Saturn heavily influences both the new and full moon in this cycle, as he will be with the Sun & Moon on Feb 27th and he will be totally combust, or too close to, the Sun and directly opposite the Moon on March 14. This can bring a feeling of heaviness, pressure and seriousness to our minds.

Stepping out to the bigger picture – we are being challenged to balance themes of self vs other, of harmonizing personal needs vs collective needs, of creating and abiding by structures and contracts that keep ourselves balanced and nourished while also contributing that same nourishment to humanity. This is not a time for selfishness or to be overly selfless – the middle path is what keeps us moving forward together. These energies are encouraging us to locate the middle path so we can be supportive to ourselves and the world around us.
